Naturally there is a desire to try it in, but a company representative I was disappointed – the product will be completed by late summer. And in October, we received a welcome pattern.
The very first impression is the same only a Zalman 7000 in a big box. But as soon as I put it next to a box with a Zalman 7000, it immediately became apparent difference in size.
Indeed, the model looks 7000Cu if not a dwarf, in any case, the younger brother of the cooler 7700Cu.
However, despite the increased size (136h109h67mm), the surface area of ??the radiator 7700Cu little more than a radiator 7000Cu (3268 sq. cm vs. 3170kv.sm). The fact that the Zalman engineers were very strict limits on the weight gain. As a result, a lot cooler managed to keep within the limits of one kilogram. And to be precise, the weight of 918gr Zalman 7700Cu (the cooler 7000Cu weight = 773gr). The number of copper plates did not change the radiator (65), but increased the intervals between them. It also increased the size of the cooler. This is understandable, because instead of 92mm fan on the Zalman 7700 120mm fan is installed.
The increase in mass and size had a negative impact on the compatibility of the cooler with the motherboard. In particular, the list of supported platforms are excluded fees SocketA. There is also a strict requirement on the inadmissibility of finding the elements of high (> = 39mm) in a radius of 68mm from the center of the socket. Also, large size may prevent the cooler to install it in small, low-cost housing. Installing the Zalman cooler on the 7700 LGA775 board is carried out in three stages. At first we set the plastic frame on the opposite side of the board.
